Terms & Conditions of Entry

What are the Terms & Conditions of Entry?

Terms of Sale and Conditions of Entry

Terms of Sale:
The following terms and conditions apply to all persons who purchase tickets to Community Cinemas. Please read them carefully.

1.0 Terms of Sale

1.1 Tickets sold by Community Cinemas are subject to the following terms and conditions:

1.2 All ticket sales are final and non-refundable.  Refunds and exchanges will not be made for inadvertently booking the wrong session.  Refunds will not be given for a cancellation or termination due to adverse weather conditions.

1.3 Cancellations Due To Adverse Weather: Community Cinemas is an outdoor event and is occasionally subject to adverse weather.  We try to go ahead with screenings wherever possible, and do not cancel for light/intermittent/potential rain.  We strongly recommend customers bring wet weather gear to screenings in case of rain (note the use of umbrellas during screenings is not permitted as it obstructs the view of other audience members).  Screenings will be cancelled only if the weather poses a safety threat to patrons and staff.  The decision to cancel a screening is made by the venue Night Manager on site and can be made at any time up to or during the screening, as weather conditions are notoriously unpredictable.  Patrons accept the risk that weather they consider unsatisfactory may occur on a screening night and acknowledge that tickets will not be re-validated unless a screening is officially cancelled by Community Cinemas.

Ticket holders who independently decide that potential weather conditions are unsuitable are welcome to personally transfer their e-ticketing to any other screening in the future.  The instructions are provided on e-tickets or select CHANGE MY BOOKING under TICKETS/EVENTS on the website.

Community Cinemas does not provide refunds on tickets in the event of a Cancellation due to Adverse Weather.  If a session is cancelled due to adverse weather, tickets are automatically revalidated for the same ticket type for any future session during that Community Cinemas season or beyond. You must retain your original tickets to use the information on them for another night.

When a session is cancelled, customers will receive an SMS and an email to the mobile number and email address entered when purchasing tickets online.  The email will contain instructions on how to rebook for another session.  Instructions on how to re-book your session are also available your e-ticket.  Start the process by selecting CHANGE MY BOOKING under the heading TICKETS/EVENTS on the website.  Please note that Community Cinemas Head Office does not receive advance notification of a cancellation due to adverse weather, and so are unable to advise customers of a cancellation.

Patrons, who do not wish to wait until a formal cancellation notice is receive, or wishes for any reason not to attend, may transfer their booking at any time until 2 hours before the scheduled screening time to another screening having similar tickets and ticket prices.  Transfer fees may apply.

In the event that a cancellation due to adverse weather occurs in the final weeks of season, and a ticket holder is unable to attend another session during that season, ticket holders can select the “preservation of booking session” under the Burswood venue site listed for 25 December.  Community Cinemas will contact all preserved ticket holders before the commencement of the next season to remind them of their entitlement and need to transfer their tickets to a future suitable screening.

1.4 If a movie session is cancelled or terminated due to a decision by the host venue, or other occurrence outside of Community Cinemas’ direct control, e-ticket holders can transfer their ticketing to any future screening as outlined in 1.3.  Tickets are subject to capacity and entry is not guaranteed.

1.5 If a movie session is cancelled or terminated due to mechanical breakdown Community Cinemas e-ticket holders can transfer their ticketing to any future screening as outlined in 1.3.  Tickets are subject to capacity and entry is not guaranteed.

1.6 Volunteers working at Community Cinemas’ sites are not authorised to speak on behalf of Community Cinemas or make verbal commitments on its behalf.

1.7 In the event of the screenings being suspended or cancelled due to a governmental decision in relation to COVID-19, or any other public health issue, ticketing shall be held in trust until screenings resume and transferred to another appropriate screening at that time.

1.8 Entry may be refused if tickets are damaged or defaced in any way or are not purchased from one of Community Cinemas authorised points of sale.

1.9 Community Cinemas reserves the right to charge patrons for the replacement of lost or damaged tickets or gift vouchers.

1.10 Late arrival may result in non-admittance until a suitable time during the movie.

Updated 1 July 2023

Weather

What if it rains? How is a screening cancelled & what happens?

Telethon Community Cinemas is an all-weather outdoor event.  All screenings will proceed in rain, wind, or shine unless weather conditions pose a serious risk to the safety of patrons and crew.  If we cancel a screening all tickets are valid for any other screening (with restrictions) at any venue for any future screening even beyond the current Season.  We do not provide refunds as such.

We will:

  • SMS the mobile number of the person who booked your ticket.
  • Email the person who booked your ticket with instructions on how to transfer your tickets.
  • Post a cancellation notice on our website on that session & on our Facebook page usually by 5:30pm at the latest.

We wait until the latest Bureau of Meteorology forecast that arrives around 4:30pm plus assess the rain radar before making a decision if the situation is unclear.  If, earlier, the rain has settled in the session is likely to be cancelled at that time.

What if the screening goes ahead but I am not comfortable about attending?

Telethon Community Cinemas allows its patrons to transfer their ticketing at any time, for any reason, up to 6pm on the night of the screening to any future screening with similar price points.  Select the header Ticket Information on our website and then from the dropdown menu click on Change My Booking.  Follow the instructions to change your booking.

If you do not change your booking and the screening proceeds the responsibility and decision, not to have been pro-active in changing your booking, is deemed to have been yours.

What time do gates open and films start & end?

Gates open at 6:30pm except where indicated.  The film starts at 7:45pm except where indicated.  We recommend arriving early to get the best spot as there is no reserved seating.  It also gives you time to grab your food and drink and settle in for the evening.  Screening end times depend upon the length of the film.  A film’s running time is shown when you refer to that screening.

Can I bring the kids along?

Children are most welcome as we are an all-age venue.  Please note we do screen MA15+ movies which requires children under 15 to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Are infants & babies welcome?

Most certainly but if you have a very young one, we simply ask you to be conscious of other patrons should your child become restless and find a quieter place in the venue to settle them.

What should I bring?

To enjoy your outdoor cinema experience, we suggest the following things – layering up or bringing a blanket for those chillier nights and insect repellent to keep those mozzies away.  FREE insect repellent and hand sanitiser is available at all venues at entry and on our counters.  We have throw and picnic rugs for sale..

If you have not hired any seating you are welcome to bring your own rugs, bean bags, lawn chairs etc.  Just be aware that taller chairs will be restricted to designated areas of the venue so that everyone can see the screen.

Where can I get a copy of a venue's programme?

Our programme in list form can be downloaded from the website for each venue.

Can I bring a bicycle or pram into the venue?

Yes, you are welcome to bring bicycles or prams into the venue, however, you do so at your own risk.  We request that bicycles be stored to one side.

Is this an accessible event?

All venues are wheelchair or restricted mobility friendly. Designated parking is located close to the entrance of the cinemas.

A Companion Card holder and their carer have complimentary admission when presenting cards at the box office on the night.

Unfortunately, due to the technical requirements of outdoor cinema, we are unable to offer any closed caption or audio descriptive screenings.

For further information, please contact us directly at admin@communitycinemas.com.au or phone 0403 560 684 M-F excluding public holidays between 10am and 6pm.

Can I bring my dog or other pets?

Sadly, generally speaking, no.  As much as we love our furry and other pets, we have restrictions set by our venues.  However, service dogs are certainly permitted provided appropriate proof can be provided.

Burswood does have the occasional dog-friendly screening which are listed on the programming.

Can I smoke or vape?

No, current laws restrict smoking within any venue or place of entertainment and we equally forbid vaping for the convenience of others.  Patrons may step outside the venue to smoke or vape.

I’ve lost something at the cinema.

We do a sweep of the venue each evening so hopefully we’ve found it.  Please phone 0403 560 684 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays) or email admin@communitycinemas.com.au

Food, Drinks & Seating

Can I bring my own items?

Whilst our pricing is very modest compared to most cinemas, we also allow our patrons to self-cater except for BYO alcohol. Unfortunately liquor licensing laws stipulate that BYO alcohol is not permitted at our venues. Otherwise, everything else is fine.

You can bring your own picnic rugs, camper chairs or bean bag lounges or hire from the venue.

What food & drinks are available?

We have a great range of Domino’s pizzas (including gluten-minimal and vegetarian/vegan options), garlic bread, pies and vegetable rolls.  Pizzas MUST be pre-ordered online by 5:45pm.

Our bar has a wide selection of Angove’s Family wines, Gage Roads’ beers, Rekorderlig ciders, pre-mixed drinks, and Coca Cola soft drinks. We also have barista-prepared Giovanni coffees, hot chocolate, and tea. All very reasonably priced. Our bar selection is listed under Food & Drink on the website.

Some wines can be pre-ordered for your convenience online.

How do I order Pizzas?

All pizzas MUST be ordered online.  They can be purchased when buying tickets or independently of anything else.  For independent online orders choose the screening and then select the items you require.  Online orders close at 5:45pm for that night’s screening.  Orders are available for collection at the venue Candy bar usually from 7:15pm.

How can I request dietary changes to my pizza order?

Gluten minimal, vegan or topping deletions can be requested by emailing info@communitycinemas.com.au no later than 5pm the business day before your screening.  We cannot guarantee changes can be made if requests are made on the day of (or non-business days) screening.

Do you cater for gluten-minimal, vegetarian & vegan options?

We have vegetarian pizzas as well as gluten-minimal pizzas available at all venues.  Vegetable rolls as well as gluten-minimal and vegan ice creams are available.  Just ask at our Candy Bar.

Do you provide seating and/or can I bring my own?

We provide the grass and you are welcome to bring your own seating or rugs. There are designated seating areas according to height of seating to ensure all patrons can see the screen.

Our wonderfully comfortable bean bag lounges can be either pre-hired online ($0.50 booking fee per lounge applicable) or (if not sold out) available on the night at the venue at $7 each. We also have fold-up seating available for ONLINE pre-ordering hire at our Burswood venue only ($7.50).

Picnic rugs ($15) and throw rugs ($12) can be purchased at venues.

ECU Joondalup Pines has a limited number of free fixed sling chairs available on a first seated first “owned” basis. Recommended to bring pillows for head rests.

How do I collect my pre-ordered bean bag lounge or fold-up chair?

Pre-ordered bean bag lounges and fold-up chairs can be collected inside the venue. Our volunteers at the gate will direct you to the collection point. Personal ID may be required.

If I have rugs, low to ground seats or beanbag lounges, how can I ensure my view isn't blocked by patrons in high camper chairs?

We have designated seating areas at all venues and patrons are asked to respect this.

At Burswood, Bassendean and Murdoch, we divide the venue into left and right sides with taller forms of seating restricted to the right side.

At ECU Joondalup Pines, tall seating is restricted to designated hard surface areas.

Our volunteers will assist patrons in finding the right spot.

How do I buy tickets?

You may have a voucher from a previous season (before 01 Jun 2020) that includes a PIN number (and starts with 2019 or 2020).

If the voucher is for tickets/La Grassiere/bean bags/Community voucher:

  1. Locate an event you want to use the voucher on (not valid on special screenings or private events).
  2. Locate the GIFT VOUCHER OR DISCOUNT CODE? box.
  3. Enter the voucher code, then the PIN number (no spaces between the two) into the discount code box and click Validate.
  4. If the voucher is valid you will be able to choose an item or two from the drop down list.
  5. Click Add to cart
  6. Complete the checkout process to confirm your order.

If the voucher is for Pizzas or Cheese packs ONLY):

If you are absolutely sure your voucher is for a pizza or cheese pack, follow this DIFFERENT process:

  1. Choose items you want to buy (including tickets, bean bags, food etc).
  2. At the checkout, PRIOR to paying for your order, locate the Gift Voucher Code box.
  3. Input the voucher code then the PIN number (with no spaces between the two), and click Apply.
  4. The value of your voucher will be removed from the order total that you need to pay.
  5. Check out to finalise your order.

If you are having trouble completing your order, please phone us on 0403 560 684 between 10am and 6pm Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays).

I am having problems redeeming my gift voucher online. Help!

We have changed our ticketing agency this season so you may experience difficulty redeeming online.  Read the previous FAQ regarding gift vouchers from previous seasons whose voucher code begins with 2019 or 2020.  If still having problems please phone us on 0403 560 684 between 10am and 6pm Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays).

I can't use my gift voucher at certain screenings. Why?

Sessions marked NLG are not available for South32 La Grassiere due to either being a special event with special pricing (such as THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW screenings) or due to restrictions placed upon that screening by its film distributor. Restrictions may also apply to some of our other gift vouchers as well.

Can I purchase gift vouchers right now? How?

Yes, they can be ordered online (booking fee per voucher applies) for downloading and printing off.  If you have problems ordering online please phone us on 0403 560 684 between 10am and 6pm Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays).

Whilst the standard option is for a Domino’s Supreme pizza, we do allow patrons to request a Vegetarian pizza and/or gluten-minimal instead for dietary reasons. Similarly, we allow deductions from the pizza for dietary reason.

We have gluten-minimal and vegan options across most of the items in the package.

Changes MUST be made by 5pm the BUSINESS WEEKDAY PRIOR to the date of your screening to give us time to make the modifications.

Please email us at info@communitycinemas.com.au with full booking/screening details and your request.

Do I need to do anything special when redeeming a gift voucher online?

When redeeming a gift voucher, refer to the instructions on the gift voucher.

With a South32 La Grassiere gift voucher we automatically order/reserve your bean bag lounges, cheese platter and pizza.

How do I redeem my gift voucher, Complimentary Online Admission or Value Card?

You MUST redeem gift vouchers ONLINE.  They will not be accepted at the gate at the venues.  Simply select the screening of your choice and provide the Voucher ID when paying for your purchases.  Gift vouchers are valid for redeeming online for all screenings at all venues except where stated.  South32 La Grassiere vouchers are only valid at our Burswood venue.

Complimentary Online Admissions are valid at all venues except No Free Pass screenings listed on our programme.  They MUST be redeemed online but there are limited places available due to restrictions imposed by film companies.

How do I use my Value Card coupons?

Whilst we have discontinued our Value Cards any unused coupons can still be used at the venues.  Ticket coupons are redeemable at the Box Office.  Bean Bag Lounge, food and drink coupons are redeemable at the Candy Bars.

What is the Value Card all about?

Our Value Card has been discontinued.  However, if you have unused coupons these can still be used.  The Value Card entitles you to 4 admissions, 4 bean bag lounge hires, 4 standard popcorns, 4 non-alcoholic drinks and 4 ice creams to be used in whatever combination you wish.  Some restrictions apply.  A Value Card purchased after 1 July 2018 has vouchers that do not expire and can be kept for next season.

Must I use all my Value Card coupons at one screening or at one time?

No, you can use them at any time (with some restrictions) in any number across multiple screenings.

Why can't I pre-book using Value Card coupons online?

Unfortunately, for all the goodies you get we had to impose a restriction or two to give value for money.  One of these is that we only accept them across the counter at a venue as otherwise ticketing agency fees would apply.
